Who We Are

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to make sure that regardless of background, race, religion, gender and socio-economic status, each child receives the educational and social tools required in order to advance in life.

We operate as national advocates, guiding the education of youth at risk. We, at Menifa, believe that with the proper guidance and tools to learn, the challenges of at-risk behavior can become strengths on which to build and empower the youth. We seek to change the way that the system looks at troubled youth.

WHO WE ARE

Menifa is a non-profit organization based in Israel. Menifa was formed to advance educational initiatives for youth at risk. We operate intervention programs aimed at retaining at-risk youth within normative educational frameworks and integrating dropout youth back into such frameworks. Our operating model focuses on personal empowerment and identity development of the teens. We achieve this through our intensive holistic and multi-disciplinary programs. Our professional team is comprised of teachers, social workers, psychologists and therapists.  These highly skilled and motivated individuals manage our positive youth development (PYD) programs across the country. Our primary focus is on groups in Israeli society who are in need of our services, namely Ethiopian Jews, Arab communities, Israel’s social and geographic periphery, and Ultra-Orthodox. Our programs are designed to keep the youth in schools and guiding the thousands that have already left, back into normative society. Menifa has developed different models of intervention that address the whole prism that surrounds the youth, including school, family, friends, and community. Proper diagnosis and care of youth in crisis is best implemented in the school, or in friendly safe environments that can advance the adolescents. Menifa provides the schools, the teachers and the families with tools for optimal dealing with the challenges facing these adolescents. Our goal is preventing manifest and latent dropouts from the school system and from society in general. Specialized curriculum and activities are designed to meet the needs and challenges of each student. They include educational and social programs and professional treatment of any issues that arise. Since 2004, Menifa has been a leading national organization dealing with risk-associated behavior among youth and families at risk. We have been in the forefront of developing new solutions to the ever-growing issues related to troubled youth. Menifa has operated over 400 centers throughout Israel. During this period, we have served over 10,500 youths and their family members.
