Child and parent centers, initiated and operated by Menifeh, were established as a response in the community to improve the relationship between parents and children, to improve coping within the family with life situations
The guiding concept recognizes the importance of the parents, the home and the community in creating a safety net around the young people who are in risk situations or are experiencing functional, emotional and behavioral difficulties.
The programs in the centers emphasize the resilience of the family and its ability to lead to change and the approach is multi-functional rehabilitation, combining education, care and education and sometimes also financial assistance. The therapeutic response for both young people and families is diverse and includes family, individual and group therapeutic tools by a multi-professional team that includes social workers and therapists in various fields.
The population of the centers is diverse in terms of culture, religion and family structure. In general, Manifa centers receive service every year for close to 1,000 beneficiaries: families and individuals. Some of the services are funded by welfare in the local authorities and some of the activities are open to the entire population.
Among the services in the centers:
• Emotional therapies for children, youth and parents.
• Parental guidance.
• Dyadic (parent-child) and family therapy.
• Therapeutic groups (parents/parent-child).
• Diverse therapeutic groups: mothers’ group, cooking, phototherapy for children to strengthen social skills, divorced fathers’ group.
• Support groups for parents who are in the process of divorce.
• Individual and group art therapy.
